RE: Transporters of uncovered loads will be fined
Earth Day Public Service Announcement

It is spring clean up time and many Madison County residents and businesses are transporting unwanted material to one of the County transfer stations or landfill for disposal. “These loads must be covered,” explained Jim Zecca, director of the Dept. of Solid Waste and Sanitation. “Those stopped for transporting uncovered trash and other debris could be fined could up to $2,000.” Zecca said, “Covering loads of trash and debris for transport is a matter of common courtesy to those living along the route between your home or business and the disposal sites. Residents living along roads leading to one of the County’s transfer stations and landfill do not want everyone else’s trash in their yards.” Trash and debris that is transported without a cover also creates an eyesore along county highways and byways. Zecca asks residents and businesses to “Please cover their loads before transporting them.” Happy Earth Day and week!
