Any person under the age of sixteen who is accused of committing a crime, may be issued
a Juvenile Delinquent Appearance Ticket by the arresting law enforcement agency. The
Madison County Probation Department is responsible for the intake process for all
Juvenile Delinquent Appearance Tickets issued in the county. Any youth receiving such
a ticket will meet with a probation officer in the company of their parent/guardian.
At that point, the matter will be considered for diversion services or will be referred
to the Madison County Attorney's office for court action. Diversion is an attempt to
adjust the presented matter without the direct involvement of the Madison County Family
Court.
