Madison County Pre-Trial Services (R.O.R.)
The Madison County Pre-Trial Services program assists eligible defendants
who have been sent to jail on bail, in re-entering our community while awaiting
their court dates. The Pre-Trial Services program begins with a screening/interview
process. The officer goes to the Madison County Public Safety Building on a regular
basis to review the list of held inmates, screen them for eligibility, and interview
those who meet the established eligibility criteria. Attempts will be made by the
interviewing officer to verify social and legal information. The officer will not
interview individuals who are being held without bail, have outstanding
warrants, or are being held on Family Court charges. Based on the established
criteria listed on the scoring document, a determination is made as to
an individual's eligibility for the program.
If found to be eligible, the court having jurisdiction is contacted and
informed of that individual's status and eligibility. If the person meets
the eligibility criteria, it is not a recommendation by this department
that the individual should be released, the decision to release a person
on his own recognizance, lies with the Court.
If the individual is released on Supervised R.O.R., the pre-trial release
officer will supervise that individual until he/she is sentenced for the
present offense or until directed by the Court to do otherwise.
At any time during the Supervised R.O.R. phase, if the individual violates
any of his/her proposed conditions, the Court will be notified immediately.
