Medical Assistance: Waiver Services
Waiver cases include:
- Home & Community Based Services
- Traumatic Brain Injury Program
- Care At Home Services
- Long Term Home Health Care (LTHHC)
- Disabled Adult Child Waiver (DAC)
- Nursing Home Transition & Diversion Waiver (NHTD)
The "waiver" allows Medicaid to cover services not usually covered. These include:
- case management
- residential habilitation
- supported employment
- respite
- adaptive devices
- environmental modifications
The waiver allows Medicaid to treat children as "separate and apart" from their parents – we do not count parental income/resources. Waiver participants always need to be certified disabled (i.e., receiving Social Security Disability or have an approved AD (Aid to Disability).
