Medical Assistance: Waiver Services

Waiver cases include:

• Home & Community Based Services
• Traumatic Brain Injury Program
• Care At Home Services
• Long Term Home Health Care (LTHHC)
• Disabled Adult Child Waiver (DAC)
• Nursing Home Transition & Diversion Waiver (NHTD)

The "waiver" allows Medicaid to cover services not usually covered. These include:

• case management
• residential habilitation
• supported employment
• respite
• adaptive devices
• environmental modifications

The waiver allows Medicaid to treat children as "separate and apart" from their parents – we do not count parental income/resources. Waiver participants always need to be certified disabled (i.e., receiving Social Security Disability or have an approved AD (Aid to Disability).
